In 2008, Kevin Morby from Woods and Cassie Ramone from Vivian Girls moved into an apartment together in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. A year later, during breaks between both of their bands’ touring, The Babies were born… Now over a year from the bands’ live debut (and a couple of 7″s along the way) their debut self-titled album is being released via Shrimper records Feb 8th, 2011.
They recorded the album with Jarvis Taveniere at Rear House Studios, which doubles as Kevin’s home; his vocals were done in his own bedroom. (Jarvis, Kevin’s bandmate in Woods, has also recorded Real Estate, Vivian Girls, and Woods.) The debut album follows 7″ singles on Make a Mess Records & Wild World.
The first single is a fun and dirty track called Run Me Over. And if it’s any indication of what’s to be heard from the additional 10 tracks (see tracklisting below), we can’t wait. Hear for yourself below and check out The Babies on tour in early 2011.
