SECRET CITIES, one of our favorite bands from 2010, will be in Chattanooga on their current tour where they’ll be giving us a taste of BRAND NEW material from their upcoming release ‘Strange Hearts,’ coming out 3/29 via Western Vinyl… 2 albums in less than a year? Secret Cities have just released dates to their 2011 Winter Tour, which includes a trip to Chattanooga February 26th via JJ’s Bohemia! We have been looking forward to catching this Fargo, North Dakota trio whose debut album ‘Pink Graffiti’ dropped last summer via Western Vinyl, an album that also ranked #2 in The South Rail’s Top 15 Albums in 2010 (check out the full list here).
In the post, the band also states “We’ve got a bunch of news that will be announced over the next week or so, including a new album, new single, new booking at home and abroad, and maybe more. In the mean time, we have a US tour coming up very soon.”
We’ll keep you posted on future news from the band, and are looking forward to hearing their new material next month… but until then, if you are unfamiliar with the band (especially if you are in any of the towns listed below), then it’s about time you get to know Secret Cites!! Back in May, we gave you a sneak-peak of Secret Cities’ debut album ‘Pink Graffiti’ which was released a couple of weeks ago (July 29th) via Western Vinyl. ‘Pink City’ is the latest video in support of that album, which was made from an old 1970s State of George Department of Educations video. J. Tillman (solo artist and known for his work as the drummer for Fleet Foxes) is prepping the release of his 7th full-lenth LP which was recorded in 3 days in February this year by Steven Albini at Electrical Audio in Chicago. The LP is titled ‘Singing Ax’ and will be released Sept 14th via Western Vinyl.
Track 1 from that album is titled ‘Three Sisters’ and The South Rail is getting an exclusive first look!!! Download the track below and let us know what ya think:
