Introducing BlakRoc

November 18, 2009

We have been looking forward to the new Black Keys/Damon Dash side project BlakRoc which hits stores November 27th (Blak = Black Keys, Roc = Roc-a-Fella Records).

BlakRoc features music by The Black Keys which they composed in only 2 days. The Keys then collaborated with several MCs who had only hours to write-over the instrumental tracks – writing and recording the entire album in 11 days! BlakRoc features songs with Mos Def, Q-Tip, RZA, Raekwon, Ludacris, Pharoahe Monch, Jim Jones, NOE, Nicole Wray, Billy Danze and sample tracks from the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

Until its ‘Black Friday’ day-after-Thanksgiving release, BlakRoc has been slowly releasing a weekly behind-the-scenes web series that documents the making of the album. You can check out all the videos (Chapter 9 is the latest) on BlakRok’s youtube or website.
