Clear Plastic Masks: West Coast Tour with White Denim

January 30, 2014 1 Comment

Even though this tour doesn’t swing down South, we’re pretty fired up about our pals Clear Plastic Masks hitting the road with Austin’s White Denim for the next couple weeks along the West coast. A perfect combination of styles and sounds if you ask us! Hopefully this won’t be the last time this line-up occurs…. Everything kicks off January 31st in Seattle, WA as both bands are in-route supporting new albums… White Denim’s latest LP ‘Corsicana Lemonade’ and Clear Plastic Masks with their Serpents & Snakes Records debut EP.

If you haven’t already, check out CPM’s 4-track EP below along with their new video from the EP’s first single ‘Baby Come On.’ A perfect teaser-EP where every song can hold its own as a single. So sit back and enjoy… and if you’re a West coast reader, catch both bands at the dates below:

\\GT//: ‘To The Sea’

October 3, 2013 0 comments

We love us some \\GT// from Birmingham, AL, but damn, with a name like \\GT//, it’s not always the easiest to stumble across their material on the web. Thanks to a shout from director Albert Kuhne, who has done a lot of camera work for Joshua Shoemaker (Banditos, Clear Plastic Masks), we finally discovered this gem! The video is for the track ‘To The Sea,’ which is from \\GT//’s debut EP ‘Heavy Dreams’ that dropped earlier this year.

We were lucky enough to catch the band this Summer at JJ’s Bohemia, and this video makes us ready to catch ’em live again! Check out ‘To The Sea’ below and while you’re at it, dig into the full ‘Heavy Dreams’ EP as well as \\GT//’s new 3-song EP ‘Get Tryin” which came out last month via limited edition hand printed cassette tape… Like tapes? GET IT HERE!

Clear Plastic Masks: ‘So Real’

February 12, 2013 0 comments

Clear Plastic Masks are one of our favorite live acts out there right now. Not only that, they’re some of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. We say all this with excitement as the band debuted the first single, ‘So Real,’ from their debut self-titled full-length record on SPIN.com last week! The track is one of many that were recorded at Bomb Shelter Studios in Nashville since they’ve moved there from Brooklyn last fall.

The boys will be traveling though the states the next couple months with some limited-edition copies of that LP, which are ONLY AVAILABLE via the hand-full of dates below. One date particular is here in Chattanooga at Rhythm & Brews with Banditos (Birmingham, AL) and Chattanooga’s own Eight Knives (get your tickets HERE) … Is it us or with a SPIN debut and a limited edition tour only LP, does someone smell a record deal?

Stream the studio track of ‘So Real’ HERE and catch a killer live version of the single shot by Joshua Shoemaker below… Also keep an ear out for some studio material from the Brittany Howard side project Thunderbitch, which we’re pretty sure should be seeing the light-of-day around the time this new LP drops later in Spring. We’ll keep you posted:

Clear Plastic Masks: ‘Pegasus In Glue’

September 10, 2012 0 comments

Back in July we had the honor to bring Brooklyn’s Clear Plastic Masks to their first Chattanooga gig, hosting them at our The South Rail Presents at Track 29 July 27th…Right after their Chattanooga set and tour with Nashville’s Fly Golden Eagle and Birmingham’s Banditos, while in the Southern town of B-ham, videographer Joshua Shoemaker (who had been filming all 3 bands during their whole tour) decided to have the band set-up after a local show in a random public parking lot in downtown Birmingham.

The result? A pure genius combination of rock n’ roll and cinematography! Enjoy the song ‘Pegasus In Glue’ recorded live in Birmingham below, a track that’s the b-side from the band’s brand new 7-inch ‘Working Girl.’

And if you missed Clear Plastic Masks in Chattanooga or anywhere else down South this Summer, don’t worry… The boys will be down camping out in Nashville the rest of the year, so expect some big things from this 4-piece before the year is out, especially if you’re in the area.
