Year of the: Houndmouth

May 28, 2013 0 comments

It’s not like everyday you become proud of a band and their success as the band’s music career develops, but damnit, we are so very proud of Houndmouth!

For the past year-and-a-half, we have slowly watched this New Albany, IN (Louisville, KY) 4-piece grow and it has been such an amazing trip so far… a trip that, in reality, is only just the beginning… and starting this June to be exact!

It feels like just yesterday when we helped bring Houndmouth down to Chattanooga for a special event that was hosted by Chattanooga Whiskey at Track 29 (see video here), and ever since, we have noticed nothing hard work and positive events coming from the Houndmouth camp including a record deal and to-kill-for gig opportunities… hell, these kids even have their very own beer!

With all that said, Houndmouth’s debut full-length record “From the Hills Below the City” drops next week (June 4th) via Rough Trade Records, followed by their network television debut June 5th on Conan! — And if that wasn’t enough, their full LP can be streamed via Conan’s Team Coco website HERE!!! How cool is that?

We love it when great talent is embraced, especially so early in a curreer… Stream the new record HERE, scroll down to catch their latest video (and the LP’s official first single) “On The Road,” as well as a few others and catch them HERE this Spring/Summer at a town near you!

SharkWeek is one of the newer bands here in Chattanooga who’ve recently caught our attention. After finishing up a 7-song EP this fall, select tracks have slowly been leaking onto the internet. And a if you’re diggin’ what you hear, and are in the Chattanooga area this Saturday, come on down to Mainx24 and catch SharkWeek for FREE! They will be playing a free all-ages show December 1st at Clyde’s Auto Glass along with other #CHA locals Summer Dregs (Click HERE for details)… On top of that, later that night, they will be opening for up for The Dirty Guv’nahs at Track 29. Clear Plastic Masks: ‘Pegasus In Glue’

September 10, 2012 0 comments

Back in July we had the honor to bring Brooklyn’s Clear Plastic Masks to their first Chattanooga gig, hosting them at our The South Rail Presents at Track 29 July 27th…Right after their Chattanooga set and tour with Nashville’s Fly Golden Eagle and Birmingham’s Banditos, while in the Southern town of B-ham, videographer Joshua Shoemaker (who had been filming all 3 bands during their whole tour) decided to have the band set-up after a local show in a random public parking lot in downtown Birmingham.

The result? A pure genius combination of rock n’ roll and cinematography! Enjoy the song ‘Pegasus In Glue’ recorded live in Birmingham below, a track that’s the b-side from the band’s brand new 7-inch ‘Working Girl.’

And if you missed Clear Plastic Masks in Chattanooga or anywhere else down South this Summer, don’t worry… The boys will be down camping out in Nashville the rest of the year, so expect some big things from this 4-piece before the year is out, especially if you’re in the area.

Houndmouth: New Songs Live from Chattanooga!

August 1, 2012 0 comments

We LOVE us some Houndmouth, who instantly became one of our favorite bands just earlier this year. And we were more than excited when the band announced their signing to Rough Trade Records later last month… Via their new label, the band will be releasing a 4-song self-titled EP pressed on 12″ vinyl this month that will be followed later on by a full-length LP.

You may be familiar with the main songs on the upcoming EP by now from our January article, but while this 4-piece were in Chattanooga opening for Those Darlins at the Chattanooga Whiskey party held at Track 29 on June 2nd, we got a little taste of what possibly could be future LP songs! We are not 100% of what the final titles will be, but at the time of this article, the new songs are ‘On The Road’ and ‘Comin’ Around Again.’

So just sit back and enjoy these 2 new live tracks below!… and pre-order Houndmouth’s debut EP HERE which drops August 21st in the U.S:

If you’re not familiar with Houndmouth, get that way. Here are some already classic-to-our-ears tunes you need to know (and are featured on the new EP):

The 6-song disc is called ‘Everybody Goes To Milo’s’ and was nicely packaged in a brown paper bag accompanied with a Budwiser label style Banditos sticker.

In addition, from that EP’s first track comes the new single ‘Cry Baby Cry’ that is available for FREE download below, if you didn’t get ‘yer hands one of these hand-made suckers! More details to come with this EP, but until then, stream/download the single below and get ready for BIG things from this up-and-coming band who put on one hell of a live show!
