Polish your ears with this hot track from Okey Dokey… We recently stumbled across this fine Nashville collaboration fronted by Aaron Martin and Johny Fisher (Sol Cat & The Weeks), in addition to a band consisting of ever-changing members of The Weeks, Sol Cat, Desert Noises, Diane Coffee, Wild Child, Turbo Fruits/Bully, Rayland Baxter & more!

The band’s debut single, ‘Wavy Gravy,’ dropped earlier this year and is just a small taste from the band’s first full-length, ‘Love You, Mean It,’ which the band says via their Facebook page, is dropping “this Summer.”

Dig into Okey Dokey, purchase the debut single, ‘Wavy Gravy’ HERE… and keep your eyes pealed for ‘Love You, Mean It!’… Although there is no mention of tour dates or upcoming shows, we look forward to catching these guys very soon!

P.S. Frontman Aaron Martin is not only a musician, but a visual artist as well. He has crafted album art, posters and other means for numerous bands, such as TORRES, Diarrhea Planet, The Kingston Springs, Birdcloud, Blackfoot Gypsies, Hellbender, The Ettes, The Jag, & Alanna Royale. September 21, 2012 0 comments

The last time we were in Nashville was in August when Turbo Fruits‘ were shooting the video for ‘Harley Dollar Bill$,’ the second single and first video from their new Jim Eno produced LP ‘Butter’ that came out last week via Kings of Leon’s Serpents and Snakes Records. Well, yesterday marked the premier of the video and is available to stream below… BUT NOT ONLY THAT, to go hand-and-hand with this release, Turbo Fruits made an exclusive Turbo Time Records pressing of the Battle Tapes Recording session version of Harley Dollar Bill$,’ on SUNSHINE ACID VINYL and limited to only 100 copies! Wanda Jackson: ‘Tore Down’

September 13, 2012 0 comments

Queen of Rockabilly Wanda Jackson recently finished the follow-up to her Jack White produced full-length, ‘The Party Ain’t Over’ which will be called ‘Unfinished Business.’ The LP is set to drop October 9th via Sugar Hill Records and is produced by yet another start-studded musician turned producer, Justin Townes Earle!

So what do you do to promote such a highly anticipated album? You compliment the record’s first single, ‘Tore Down’ with a killer video that is slam-packed full of Nashville’s finnest up-and-coming artists, or course! The video features Erin Belle (model and ex-member of The Black Belles) as the lead roll who’s very distressed by her character’s ex-love interest Jonas Stein of Turbo Fruits… oh, and not to mention tons of cameos by people like Nikki Lane, Tristen, Ron Jeremy, comedian Chris Crofton (Alcohol Stuntband) and many many more! Keep an eye out and the pause button ready!

Check it out below and pre-order your copy of ‘Unfinished Business’ HERE:

Thee Oh Sees: ‘Lupine Dominus’

June 26, 2012 0 comments

Thee Oh Sees are one of our favorite touring live acts out there right now… scratch that. They’re one of our favorite bands, period. With that said, today was extremely special because we got to hear the very first track from their upcoming ‘Putrifiers II’ LP, which drops from In the Red Records on September 11th… and per fashion, it is oh so good!

September 11th is really becoming the major release date so far! Along with Thee Oh Sees expect new tunes from Turbo Fruits, Avett Brothers, and Natural Child’s promised 3rd LP of the year!

Turbo Fruits and The Weeks: Sign to Kings of Leon’s Label

April 6, 2012 0 comments

The official announcement dropped yesterday via Nashville Scene that Nashville based bands Turbo Fruits and The Weeks have been signed to Kings of Leon‘s label, Serpents and Snakes Records! Great news for 2 hard working bands!

Turbo Fruits, who just finished recording in Austin TX with Spoon’s Jim Eno at his Public Hi-Fi studio, will be releasing their third full-length studio album, ‘Butter,’ later on this Summer via Serpents and Snakes. At the same time, being able to offer limited edition releases via Turbo Fruits front-man Jonas Stein’s own Turbo Time Records… Releases like the limited edition lollipop colored 7-inch vinyl of the single ‘Sweet Thang,’ the very first single released from those Jim Eno sessions… But good luck getting 1 of these 100 beauties, that sold out in less than a day! Click HERE for details.

We were one of those lucky 100 and decided to record the live playing of the record’s A-side ‘Sweet Thang.’ Being HUGE fans of Turbo Fruits’ sophomore LP ‘Echo Kid,’ we were in huge anticipation in hearing this new single… and once that needle dropped, we were blown away! Take a listen to the track below (Note: This was done in low quality to avoid anyone from ripping the audio):

Not to forget The Weeks, a great band we had the privilege of catching several times here in Chattanooga, who are working on their new album now, set to release in 2013. It will be the follow-up to the EP ‘Gutter Gaunt Gangster’ that dropped last Fall. Stream the EP below and pick-up a second-pressing (soon) HERE or on tour. Great stuff:

And also check out the full, well written article ‘Snake Charmer’ by Adam Gold HERE via Nashville Scene.
