Some more Joshua Shoemaker directed videos premiered on American Songwriter today, this time featuring 2 songs from one of our favorite live bands from the South, Birmingham, Alabama’s Banditos! Both songs, ‘Long Gone Away’ and ‘No Good,’ come from the band’s new EP that just dropped this week.
We can’t stress enough how much we love these guys live and these videos definitely reflect them at their best… not to mention, both were shot in the Alabama woods (aka, Banditos’ back yard), showing us even more how Shoemaker is becoming one of the best in documenting bands live and perfecting live recorded sounds in your not-so-typical settings.

Queen of Rockabilly Wanda Jackson recently finished the follow-up to her Jack White produced full-length, ‘The Party Ain’t Over’ which will be called ‘Unfinished Business.’ The LP is set to drop October 9th via Sugar Hill Records and is produced by yet another start-studded musician turned producer, Justin Townes Earle!
So what do you do to promote such a highly anticipated album? You compliment the record’s first single, ‘Tore Down’ with a killer video that is slam-packed full of Nashville’s finnest up-and-coming artists, or course! Wow, do we love us some Fly Golden Eagle! The Nashville band has finally dropped their very first video, which is for the ‘Swagger’ track ‘Devil’s Eye (Basilisk).’ This comes out just days after returning from their tour opening with buddies Alabama Shakes.
But one thing this this video does well (other than showing people dancing) is documents this band’s #1 strength: A KILLER LIVE SHOW!.. Recorded in July at Nashville’s ZombieShop, check out the video below and if you haven’t already, download FGE’s debut full-length ‘Swagger’HERE:
Back in July we had the honor to bring Brooklyn’s Clear Plastic Masks to their first Chattanooga gig, hosting them at our The South Rail Presents at Track 29 July 27th…Right after their Chattanooga set and tour with Nashville’s Fly Golden Eagle and Birmingham’s Banditos, while in the Southern town of B-ham, videographer Joshua Shoemaker (who had been filming all 3 bands during their whole tour) decided to have the band set-up after a local show in a random public parking lot in downtown Birmingham.
The result? A pure genius combination of rock n’ roll and cinematography! Enjoy the song ‘Pegasus In Glue’ recorded live in Birmingham below, a track that’s the b-side from the band’s brand new 7-inch ‘Working Girl.’
And if you missed Clear Plastic Masks in Chattanooga or anywhere else down South this Summer, don’t worry… The boys will be down camping out in Nashville the rest of the year, so expect some big things from this 4-piece before the year is out, especially if you’re in the area.

Chattanooga’s local Garage Grass crew Strung Like a Horse not only dropped their new 5-song EP, ‘Glad,’ last week, but accompanied their EP’s single ‘Gypsy Jane’ with a killer new video shot by New York-based director Tomas Donoso. Last Friday marked the EP’s big release day and video premiere from a show that started at the Nightfall Music Series, where the band headlined, and continued down Market Street via parade (watch here) to Rhythm and Brews, where the release party was held. Third Man Recordsjust dropped a new video for the single ‘Railroad Track’ that comes from New Zealander (by the way of the UK) Willy Moon. We never heard of Willy until today, but were instantly mesmerized and are hungry for more from this track alone (and not just because of our love for railroad culture)… The video, obviously was shot in Nashville, but also features brief set appearance from local Nashville haunt Santa’s Pub.
