Clear Plastic Masks are one of our favorite live acts out there right now. Not only that, they’re some of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. We say all this with excitement as the band debuted the first single, ‘So Real,’ from their debut self-titled full-length record on SPIN.com last week! The track is one of many that were recorded at Bomb Shelter Studios in Nashville since they’ve moved there from Brooklyn last fall.

The boys will be traveling though the states the next couple months with some limited-edition copies of that LP, which are ONLY AVAILABLE via the hand-full of dates below. One date particular is here in Chattanooga at Rhythm & Brews with Banditos (Birmingham, AL) and Chattanooga’s own Eight Knives (get your tickets HERE) … Is it us or with a SPIN debut and a limited edition tour only LP, does someone smell a record deal?

Stream the studio track of ‘So Real’ HERE and catch a killer live version of the single shot by Joshua Shoemaker below… Also keep an ear out for some studio material from the Brittany Howard side project Thunderbitch, which we’re pretty sure should be seeing the light-of-day around the time this new LP drops later in Spring. We’ll keep you posted:

GET TO KNOW: Behold the Brave

January 31, 2013 0 comments

We finally had time to catch-up on all the records from last year (that were on our list) when putting together our top albums of 2012 this month. And we were floored once we got a hold of Behold the Brave‘s debut full-length “The Great American Challenge.”

Both the band and ourselves are from the great city of Chattanooga, so we’ve caught them live a fair share of times the past years, everytime, getting better and better at their craft. But with this new record that dropped in November, the boys definitely have taken it to the next level! Check out a couple key tracks from the LP below, as well as some pretty cool ‘making of’ videos of the band in Atlanta recording with producer Matt Goldman (Underoath, The Chariot, As Cities Burn).

Dig it? Well, catch Behold the Brave THIS FRIDAY (2/1) at JJ’s Bohemia. They’ll be headlining a local showcase featuring them and 3 other Chattanooga bands all for $5 — This happens at 9pm, right after the free early show at JJ’s Bohemia featuring Nashville’s Western Medication. For details on the early show click here — And of course, download The Great American Challenge” HERE!

TSR EXCLUSIVE: Stream Moonlight Bride’s NEW EP ‘Dead Language’

November 26, 2012 4 Comments

The Chattanooga 4-piece Moonlight Bride are one of our favorite local bands. With that said, we were honored when the band asked us to premiere their latest release, ‘Dead Language,’ a week before the official release date!

The new 5-song EP is dropping December 4th, and is holding us over as the band finishes up their full-length record that will be out later next year (2013). As frontman Justin Giles explains, “It’s a group of songs we recorded and always liked, but just didn’t seem to fit with the material that we’ve been putting together for the new album.”

In detail about the EP, Giles continues, “Our generation is obsessed with the flash and flare of some pawn dancing around and pressing a couple of buttons and calling it electronic or dub-step. ‘Dead Language’ is anti that.”

Stream ‘Dead Language’ in its entirety below and download your copy via iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and Rhapsody Tuesday, December 4th:
